Please explain Can someone please explain the difference between using regular てform and ている? I understand using them to connect sentences but the actual meanings ofている gets a little confusing considering it has 3 difference uses concerning verbs. Thanks so much!

the て form means 'and' , kind of type meaning. But ている form means that you are -ing 'doing' something. Examples: コーヒー飲んで、勉強をしました。 I dank my coffee and studied. 友達はテレビを見ている。 My friend is watching TV. OK? Ask me more if that's not clear.
