I am reading a book titled Flipped. And I see a strange usage for me. What is the meaning of "a wildfire ego"?
Here is the sentence: To look at her, you would think she had everything, but there is not much solid underneath her Mount Everest hair. And even though she is like a black hole at sucking people in, it doesn't take them long to figure out that being friends with her requires fanning the flame of a wildfire ego.
Is that mean requires character like gossipy?

An "ego" is like your self esteem. If you have a big ego, you think you are wonderful. Having a big ego is a bad thing.

Her ego is like a wildfire (big fire). If you fan a fire, it gets bigger. You can "fan" an ego by telling a person how good they are, and their ego will grow.

So, she has a very big ego, she thinks she is very good. However, if her friends do not constantly compliment her, she doesn't like them anymore.
