What does “clichd” mean? I read in one of my favorite online newspapers the following phrase: No clichd narrative Although she doesn’t go in for sometimes clichd narrative of the struggling woman in a male-dominated society, she appreciates the importance and symbolism of her role in the bookstore. Is “clichd” related to cliché or to the German word Kitsch? Is it a tipo for cliched? The article is full of tipos.

Hi! It is a typo for cliched, yes. Some people spell it with the accent aigu'ed é but in English this is not standard practice, one could argue. The ch in cliched is pronounced like 'sh' or /ʃ/ in phonemic transcription. Definitely a typo for "clichéd". The word "clichéd" originates from French and is spelled with an accent, which may be hard to input for some users.

I suspect that the original may have had the é, and that got dropped, rather than changed into an e, at some stage in the pre-press data processing.
