A question to NATIVE English speakers...
I am awfully thankful to any native speaker of English who will help me to twig the meaning of this slang phrase: "Look, daddy, LET ME PULL YOUR COAT ABOUT A CAT, Elijah Muhammad - " (it's an excerpt from a text)"Elijah Muhammad" is an adressee here))

"Look, daddy, LET ME PULL YOUR COAT ABOUT A CAT, Elijah Muhammad - "
I'm happy to be corrected but I think it means:
"Listen to me, I'd like to tell you about someone called Elijah Muhammad"
It sounds very much like a Jazz-style American slang from the 1930's or 1940's, Elijah M was from around this period, so that seems to roughly link in.
"Jazz-style" may be a bit misleading perhaps, more realistically, I should have said African-American slang.
Good luck.
