What do you say "black" (as in race )in Spanish?
How would you best translate "members of the black community" into Spanish without sounding offensive? The context is in the United States. Would Spanish speakers say "negro" o "morenos"? Saying "afroamericano" doesn't fit in the context because the article talks about "black people" in general, i.e. African Americans but also immigrants from Africa such as Ethiopia.

You could take a look at newspapers published in Spanish U.S. I just found this article and they use the word "negro/negra" as a normal adjective. https://www.elnuevoherald.com/noticias/sur-de-la-florida/article18239126.html
In your case you may use "afroamericanos" and inmigrantes africanos
