2, 3, and 4 are correct, but 2 and 4 have slightly different meanings. 2 is a very generic statement. Villages exist and some people live in them. 4 is more specific. You are speaking about particular villages.

Answers 2,3 & 4 are all correct grammar. Number 1 is wrong. It would need 'a' before village to be correct.
