What's the difference between the words "ludo" and "schola" in Latin? Ludo sounds more like a play to play or have fun, while school seems to be related to School, but I'm not sure about it and I haven't found any explanation.

Ludus, ludi predominantly refers to the public games offered by the Senate/families/emperors to the Romans. Ludus was also the name of famous gladiator schools and because it was a place to learn "the games", at some point it was used to refer to the school where you learn games(elementary school) while further levels of education where named schola, a word with Greek origins.
