"Lame" literally means crippled or physically disabled in the foot or leg.
But it's mostly used in it's slang form, meaning, "inadequate", "unsatisfactory", and "out of touch with modern fashion or trends". That's how it is used in the 2 web links that you posted here.

It could also mean * apart from the meanings conveyed in your posts* :
- weak ,unconvincing
a lame excuse for example
- not effective or enthusiastic
a lame try
- conventional or uninspiring , that is the meaning Wright referred to and it is a slang used specifically in the States.
