"Scare bejeezus out of"
What does it mean and where does the expression "scare bejeezus out of" come from?

Hello Renato!
This expression is just saying that something was extremely scary for the speaker. This expression is considered blasphemous by Christians as "bejeesus" is a way of referring to Jesus in a derogatory way. So to avoid offending people I would rather say it like this:
"Scare the daylights out of..." or "Scare the living daylights out of..." which also mean an experience that was extremely scary. For example:
Are you trying to "scare the daylights out" of me by wearing that mask?
or
You almost "scared the living daylights" out of me by sneaking up on me like that!
I hope that helps!
