読むことができます、書くことができます。Can I use verb te-form to make one sentence? I think the instances in which I've learned using te-form focused around a sequence of events so I was wondering if this was appropriate or if there's a better way? ありがとうございました。

te-form focused around a sequence of events Yes, that's right. I guess what you want to get is, 読むことができて、書くこともできます。 Is this "sequence of events"? Yes and no. Here, you're arranging two items that you can do (読む and 書く). That て sounds like "and" to me. Then sequence of events? 雪が溶けて、川になる。 Snow melts (the first event). This event, in turn, results in forming a river -- this is the second event after the first. They're step 1 and 2. You know the context is just the key to judge if て is used to achieve "sequence of events". So don't worry.
