Hi, 'join the club' means that there are many people (including myself) who share that same experience. Example: I passed my exams. So did I, join the club! Or it can mean an embarrassing admission such as: Yesterday I had a car accident and damaged my father's car. Oh that happened to me when I was younger, join the club!

'Join the club' (idiom) is an expression indicating that the person spoken to is in the same, or a similar, unfortunate state as the speaker; we use it when something bad that has happened to somebody else has also happened to us. Examples: 'You don’t have any place to stay? Join the club! Neither do we.' 'Did you get fired too? Join the club!' 'So you didn’t get a job either? Join the club!'
