Question

"didn't bother to get the cards printed" what does this expression mean?
the full sentence is"he was also a vice president, but didn't bother to get the cards printed" does that mean that he didn't work or try to become president.

Answer

I'd interpret it to mean that he felt he wasn't going to be a vice president for very long.
The "also" suggests that the VP job was of lesser importance than some other job. Perhaps he knew he was going to be promoted so rapidly that there would be little opportunity to use the cards.

Answer

Here it means that since he had an an important title he assumed that everyone would know who he was.

Answer

This means something like "didn't take the trouble of printing the cards", didn't care about doing this.
