I tried to understand what this power point means.

So If they talk about an affix, is this about bound morphemes? Because I thought a bound morpheme can not stand alone. And this is an example with a morpheme which stands alone.

What is meant by base?

Ich versuchs mal:
ja, ein Affix ist ein "bound morpheme"
welches Morphem steht denn deiner menung nach hier alleine da?
Zum Begriff "base": wenn du ein Wort zerlegst, indem du ein Affix wegnimmst, bleibt jeweils eine "Basis" übrig.
Bei "speakers" gibt es zwei Schritte:
1) Pluralsuffix "s" entfernen => dann bleibt "speaker" übrig. "speaker" ist somit die Basis für das Suffix -s
2) derivational suffix "er" entfernen => dann bleibt "speak" übrig. "speak" ist somit die Basis für das Suffix -er

"if these words are stripped of all its affixes" => wenn man von einem Wort alle Affixe (prefixes +suffixes) wegnimmt, dann bleibt etwas übrig, was dann "root" (oder "stem") heisst
