Wow, this is a difficult question and a huge answer. 1) We often use the present perfect to give 'new' information, for example when we want to report an event that happened a short time ago. 2) We use the present perfect to talk about a repeated past event that may happen again in the future. 3) We often use the present perfect to talk about a situation that began in the past and continues up to the present or future. It is often used with time expressions such as since, for, never, etc. 4) We often use the present perfect to talk about a past event that has a connection with the present This is just some of the explanation for present perfect so you can see how complex the question is. Hope this helps you even though it's only one part of the answer, maybe someone with more time can give you the others.

A difficult question to answer in a simple way. However, the main ways are: Past perfect - to talk about an earlier past. After I left my house I realised I HAD LEFT the tap running. Leaving the tap running happened before I left my house. Present perfect 1 To talk about something that happened in the past which is relevant now. HAVE you EATEN breakfast? No I HAVEN'T. Because you haven't had breakfast we can have it together now. 2 To talk about experiences, normally without giving a specific time or date. I HAVE BEEN to a lot of countries. I HAVE READ a lot of books. Future perfect - to talk about something finished at a time in the future. Six months from now I WILL HAVE BEEN in China for nine years. By tonight I WILL HAVE FINISHED my homework. There are also the ...ing forms too but that is enough!
