Because when you visit them, you feel the warmth of it inside, and you want to meet these bright people, and their friends, just to inspire and feel inspired, to share, to be grateful and finally to get home happy and bouncing from happiness, you know? This is exactly the feeling we got after we visited a place called Ceresia – a café in Bangkok. A cup of great coffee is a true indulgence, which you can savor endlessly, enjoying every single note of its smell. The coffee takes your thoughts far away and fills the atmosphere with its own warmth, and berry-wooden smells, and the feeling of shared happiness, or just some me-time, when you can enjoy your own company and deep thoughts. Every single note of the smell, and after-taste, brings back memories, gets new ideas and puts you into a capsule of new, very special, time. The owners of the café – Bratt, Lucia and her sister Mary – opened their café in Bangkok in June 2013. Ceresia is an old Spanish word that means coffee cherry. Inside of the berry there are two beans that are close to each other and you can peel them differently. For example, in Venezuela there is a farm where the berries are being dried on fresh air in the patio. Then they get dark red and then they crack like a nut, opening the bean which had soaked the sweetness of the berry. We are a coffee family – says Bratt. Bratt is from Bangkok, and Lucia comes from Venezuela. They met in London while working in local coffee shops. They learned how to taste the coffee, they studied its qualities – how to work with coffee beans, to roast them, to brew the coffee, how to be a great barista etc. After that they moved to Madrid and then to Bangkok. It’s a rare thing to find great coffee here. Then they decided that a stellar café with really excellent and fresh coffee is the thing that the city needs the most. Before they opened Ceresia, they had been discussing the plan of the business for a half-year. They were planning, making agreements about the coffee supplies from different countries from small farms in Brazil, Ethiopia, Salvador, Boliviam Costa-Rica, Columbia.
