Sono Elena, your guide to Italian language and culture. Born in Venice, I blend my love for art, philosophy, and history into every lesson.
As a CELI examiner and CEDILS-certified teacher, I specialise in helping students:
- Prepare for exams (CELI/CILS/B1 Citizenship)
- Explore Italian literature and cinema
- Navigate real-life conversations
Fluent in English and French (with a dash of Greek), I adapt to your goals—whether you’re mastering grammar or discussing poetry and cinema.

As a teacher, I consider myself more of a 'guide' who supports students in discovering the language on their own.
I’m committed to creating a comfortable environment where students don’t feel judged for making mistakes, and my focus is mostly on engaging them in taking an active role in the learning process, rather than treating them as 'empty vessels' to fill with grammar rules.
I also aim at getting to know my students well so I understand what motivates them to learn Italian in order to create a study plan based on their interests.Derslerim ve öğretme tarzım
As I believe that the learning process is like the 'discovery' of a new mindset, I start the lesson with an input (text, image, audio, or song lyrics) that I use to guide my students in 'discovering' the grammar rules behind it.
This approach keeps students engaged rather than making them passive learners. They also feel that learning Italian comes naturally.

I just finished my trial lesson with Elena. I enjoyed every minute of it. She is smart, engaging, charming, funny, well-read (she just finished Rayuela!!!). After just a few minutes, I knew I wanted to book a second lesson with her (I have already done it). She has a Master’s degree in Philosophy which means that she can talk about pretty much any topic :-). This is ideal especially for students who, like me, want to practice conversation. My first lesson was very comfortable. Elena brought structure and materials that were inviting and lent themselves well to any level of involvement, from yes/no, to simple identification, to flexing the limits of my current ability and gently extending. I recommend her and her methods.
