I've been taking lessons with Hikari for 3 years, and she has helped me improve my Japanese immensely. Hikari's lessons focus on natural conversation, so if that is your goal, I highly recommend her lessons. Hikari strikes a balance between natural conversation and instruction -- she allows the conversation to flow, while occasionally and concisely correcting my mistakes. I like this approach because helps me build confidence in my speaking and listening while still providing targeted help to fill in gaps in my understanding. Above all, Hikari is patient, great at making conversation, and always has a positive attitude that makes me feel at ease.

Hikari先生 is always so encouraging and helpful in our lessons! She constantly makes sure that I am able to follow along with what we are talking about, and if I am not understanding, she helps me fill in the gaps! She is always so supportive and leads the conversation in a way that I am able to work on a lot of the speaking skills I am trying to get better at! This was our eighth lesson together and I can absolutely say that having her as a conversational partner/tutor has immensely improved my speaking skills thanks to the supportive and fun environment that she fosters in her lessons. :)

Hikari is such a wonderfully amazing conversation partner and teacher! Japanese feels very intimidating sometimes as an English speaker, but Hikari makes speaking and learning Japanese feel very fun and comfortable. I would definitely recommend her!

The teacher is always prepared and she accommodates based on the student needs. The lesson is relaxing and we do a lot of speaking and reading, as I requested from the beginning. I really recommend her.

The lessons with Hikari are very pleasant and she is always paying attention to the student's needs. She tailors the session based on what I need. We also follow a book, but there are also extra topics I am asking her about and she is helping me with. I also enjoy a lot that we talk in Japanese and she focuses on speaking as well during the sessions.
