I am Theano, a 37 years old professional teacher living in the old town of Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. Throughout my life, apart from teaching, I’ve been a queer activist & human rights advocate (lgbtq+ rights), active within collectives and in non-governmental organisations.
I am also a self-taught musician, playing traditional musical instruments. I am always passionate about experiencing new cultures especially through traditional music.
Having lived in the States, Italy, Norway, Germany, Spain, Cyprus and due to my working experience in the international humanitarian sector, I often find myself traveling, a great way to expand on my understanding of different experiencesÖğretmen Olarak Ben
I have been a professional teacher of Greek Language since 2006 while I was still attending bachelor studies in Greek Philology.
I started teaching Greek as a second/foreign language in 2014 working as a volunteer with LGBTQi+ refugee/ migrant communities in Thessaloniki and since then I have been teaching Greek online to adults who live in Greece & abroad.
Fast forward, I continued teaching migrants and refugees, both children and adults, through my work in the NGO sector.
I am a certified member of the Evaluators of the examinations for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language and I hold a Diploma in teaching Greek as a second/foreign language. Derslerim ve öğretme tarzım
I will enthusiastically explore with you your individual learning style in order to tailor the class to your needs.
I am eager to adapt and offer the class via different means and methods for example task based learning, specialized online platforms, educational online games and of course formally, offering specialized material and books in pdf form focused on teaching Greek to foreigners.

Theano encourages me to speak even if I'm not sure of the words I need. She corrects gently and gives excellant explanations for how phrases go together and shows clearly the verb structure and other grammatical requirements. She is patient and enthusiastic and pushes me gently to improve. My speaking confidence has gone up and I look forward to our lessons.
