Hallo :) I'm Pirmin, I was born and grew up in Germany, but lived in the Netherlands and Kenya and am now living in Belgium. I'm a freelance software developer and coding tutor. I enjoy talking about different cultures, languages, self-improvement, science, psychology, effective altruism, entrepreneurship, or having a good discussion about any subject.Öğretmen Olarak Ben
I started teaching different subjects many years ago and still do today because I very much enjoy teaching people. I grew up in Germany and completed my computer science degree there. Therefore, I can help you from not knowing a single word of German up to a very advanced academic level. I use English every day at work and am on a native level (C2+). I also learned Dutch to a conversational level, a bit of Swahili, and am currently learning French (B1) and Spanish (A2).Derslerim ve öğretme tarzım
My lessons are based on listening from the beginning (ALG, TPRS, Story Listening). From research and experience, I know how important engaging, comprehensible input (CI) that’s right for your level is to properly build the mental image of the language. This is much more effective for achieving real fluency than drilling grammar (see Fluent Forever). I highly recommend Crosstalk (popularized by Dreaming Spanish) for the beginning to intermediate stages. We can also focus on a specific goal like a vacation or work topic. I'm happy to provide you with additional materials outside our lessons.

A Thoughtful and Adaptable Approach to Language Learning
I'm thrilled with the approach Pirmin has taken to language learning. Together, we are exploring how I best acquire language, and I deeply appreciate his flexibility in adjusting methods to help me develop a native-like ability in German.
Our discussions about CrossTalk—recently popularized by Dreaming Spanish—have been eye-opening, leading me to explore the work of Stephen Krashen. Dr. Krashen's hypotheses have reinforced what I’ve intuitively known about language acquisition for a long time.
This realization has been so profound that I’ve even worked with my current iTalki Spanish teacher to adapt our lessons to align with Krashen’s methods. My teacher, a linguistics student, strongly supports this shift, further affirming its effectiveness.
Thanks to Pirmin’s insights and flexibility, I feel more excited and inspired than ever on this journey.

I had a fantastic CrossTalk session with Pirmin today! He kindly allowed me to record it, which has been incredibly helpful. Watching it a second, third, and even fourth time has allowed me to pick up new details with each pass, deepening my comprehension.
For example, during the live session, I didn’t catch that he lived on the 8th floor of his dormitory when he was at University. On my second watch, I heard and understood it. By the third viewing, I realized that the beginning of his story was actually a continuation of our previous CrossTalk session—something I had completely missed the first time!
I firmly believe in Comprehensible Input as a learning method, and Pirmin excels at providing clear, engaging input that meets me at my absolute beginner level of German. His approach has been incredibly effective for me, and I highly recommend him to any student looking to learn German, especially beginners.
