Namaste! I am Sanchita from Lucknow, a city in North India with a rich and colorful history and a lovely, syncretic culture. I am a linguaphile, storyteller, ex-journo, and teacher with 15 years of experience in Hindi & English communication. I teach Hindi & English at all levels. I believe learning a language is like opening the door to a new, rich cultural experience. It can’t be complete without understanding the socio-cultural contexts in which a language has grown and evolved. I am currently learning several languages. I am also a published author. My journey as a teacher started with my job at the Institute for Career Studies in 2020. I trained Grade 10, 11 and 12 students to prepare for university entrance tests. I mentored them, helping them improve their communication skills and learn how to give their best in group discussions & interviews. Later, in June 2022, while still working at my full-time job, I joined the Duolingo Global Ambassador community as a teacher. I took classes during my free time and hosted regular sessions for attendees from Europe and the US – receiving a solid 5-star rating. I like partnering with my students as a friend. My sessions are conducted in an environment of open & two-way communication, keeping in view the learning pace and convenience of each student. I encourage them to ask questions – not just about grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or other aspects of the language, but also about India – its ancient heritage, cultural wealth, rich diversity, people, topography, history, and place in the modern world. I regularly seek feedback and suggestions from students to tweak my teaching style, if required, and customize the lesson plan to best suit their needs. Sanchita ji is such a fantastic Hindi teacher! She has taught me so much about complex Hindi grammar rules, and always gives relevant readings and activities to practice those rules afterwards. When I am struggling with difficult materials, Sanchita ji pauses the lesson to figure out what is challenging, and then will adjust her methods to support my learning. This is a sign of an adaptable and hard-working teacher who is open to finding new approaches to ensure that students truly learn the material!

Every lesson with Sanchita ji brings so many new insights and knowledge! She designs lessons around countless grammar and vocabulary topics to explain the nuances of Hindi conversation and meanings, and then follows up with additional practice. The homework is always helpful for challenging my understanding of new concepts and then reviewing difficulties and questions. Sanchita ji is an amazing teacher!

I really enjoyed Sanchita’s class today! We studied the stories of Akbar and Birbal along with the Rajkumar, and it was both fun and engaging. I especially liked learning new words in Farsi and their equivalent in Hindi—it made the class even more interesting and educational. Looking forward to more classes like this!
