Nice to meet you! I'm Anthony, an English teacher who's super excited to join iTalki because I get to meet wonderful students from all over the world 🌎 and help them on their journey to becoming fluent in English! 🥳
I was born & raised in Brooklyn, New York 🇺🇸 and my family comes from México 🇲🇽, so I am a native English and Spanish speaker. I moved to Japan 🇯🇵 3 years ago and love it here! I taught myself Japanese to connect more with the people and understand the culture better. I am a CELTA-certified English teacher with three years of experience. I've taught kids to adults, online and in-person, 1-1 and in-groups. My specialties are teaching children, Business English (meetings, emails. presentations, TOEIC, etc.), and helping students with the college admissions process (interviews, essays, TOEFL, etc.). I speak with a standard American accent.
I self-taught myself Japanese, so I understand the difficulties that come with learning a language. That's why, as a teacher, I always do my best to put myself in my students' shoes and work with them to solve the issue(s). I use the first lesson to understand students' motivations for learning English, work together to establish concrete goals and milestones, and create a lesson plan that will allow students to reach their full potential while enjoying the English-learning journey.
I do this because I wholeheartedly believe teaching is all about the student and giving them the skills necessary to build their dream future. I don't drill or lecture, I coach and support students. I guide them through difficult problems so that they'll be able to do so independently later on. I begin every lesson with a smile, and I guarantee you will too :)Öğretim materyallerim
