Hola! My name is Olivia. I come from Xi'an, China — an ancient capital of 13 dynasties, home to the world-famous Terracotta Warriors. My native language is Mandarin Chinese. I am also fluent in English and have conversational proficiency in Spanish. I used to be an English teacher in China, and now I've traveled halfway across the world to Ecuador, where I teach both Chinese and English I have 6 years experience. In China, I taught English at a institution and also founded my own outdoor English speaking club called 'Tree House.' My goal was to move language learning beyond the classroom — breaking traditional boundaries and bringing language into real-life scenarios, so that language truly becomes a tool for communication. The range of my students from as young as 3 to as old as 60. I create personalized learning plans and teaching approaches for each student. I believe language is a living tool, so my classroom is built around real life — shopping, eating, traveling — all become opportunities to learn Chinese. I do not favor a rigid, textbook-based teaching approach, nor do I support learning a language solely for exam purposes. In my view, it is quite regrettable to study a language without being able to actually speak it in real-life situations. Therefore, in my classes, I want my students to learn expressions that are genuinely useful in daily life. I am committed to helping them build confidence in their language skills and feel comfortable speaking Chinese aloud.
