Ciya Manoj

Ciya is a brilliant teacher, I have learned so much with her. As I've been having lessons with her for some time, now we mostly just chat and she corrects my phrases and offers alternatives. I really look forward to my class every week!

Starting with no previous knowledge, I have now completed 100 sessions with Ciya. She also taught me the handwritten forms of the Malayalam script with a digital writing pad, something that is very important, yet few teachers of languages with a non-European writing system have done for me. Learning Malayalam requires time, and Ciya has always been very patient, friendly, and helpful with me. She also explains about Kerala culture and traditions. Regardless of your language level, I can warmly recommend studying with Ciya. She is one of the gems teaching here on iTalki.

Love learning from Ciya! She is very flexible with her classes and keeps it interesting by trying to teach me through different avenues (workbooks, storybooks, sending me videos etc). She's extremely thorough and answers all my questions in detail, and is receptive to messages outside of lesson hours. As an adult learning to read and write malayalam, it's easy to get frustrated given how complex the language is. But Ciya makes it fun and practical, focusing on spoken malayalam and on reading. Looking forward to learning more from her!

Ciya has been my teacher from the beginning of my Malayalam journey. She taught me everything I know. She taught me how to read and write the script, understand basic vocabulary and grammar, and she has shared interesting aspects of Kerala's culture along the way. Even though learning a language is a long process, I am excited to see how far I have come.
