I’m originally from a Muslim neighborhood in southwest Beijing, but I grew up living in multiple countries. Currently I'm in Tkaronto ("Toronto"), Turtle Island. I’ve dedicated my entire life to studying and teaching languages, and I recently completed a master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Toronto. In addition to teaching on this platform, I also work as a licensed healthcare interpreter.

Language Interpreter Training Program (LITP) - Seneca College - 2020The Language Interpreter Training Program (LITP) is designed to train, at the college level, professional interpreters who can perform with a high degree of competence in the legal, health care and community sector. Seneca College was the first college to offer 1LITP, which was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, the Ministry of the Attorney General and Health and Social Service agencies. As a doctor who routinely interacts with Mandarin-speaking patients, Siyi/Sayeh has been indispensable in building my skills and confidence. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had, a superb and creative instructor with a mastery of the colloquial and formal language of medical interviews. My initial goal was to get more experience role-playing patient encounters, and she went above and beyond to not only do that in a very realistic way, but to throw curveballs that really tested my skills. She is also a seemingly bottomless pit of language resources, both for medical and everyday conversation. Highly recommend for anyone in the medical field who is looking to (dramatically) improve their skills.
