Julien Courson

I would recommend Julien to anyone wanting to improve their French. I have always felt very comfortable when speaking with Julien and this makes learning a new language so much easier. He is patient and very personable. Every lesson we explore new topics, which gives me the chance to improve my vocabulary and ensures that the lesson is always entertaining. Julien is a great teacher and I have enjoyed every lesson.

I had a great time with Julien. He accompanied me over the last two years and truly was my rock on this journey. I never liked French, struggled from the very beginning, and never got a real grip on it. This time has been a real roller coaster of emotions about French — from “oh, it’s not too bad” to “what in Merlin’s beard am I doing here?” and everything in between. Through it all, Julien has been there, sitting (or occasionally standing) patiently, weathering every storm. After each little tornado passed, he was there helping me pick up the pieces. He smiled at my endless ramblings and dramatic outbursts and somehow always managed to calm the chaos with kindness and humor. He even accepted that I absolutely refused to learn the numbers. (I mean — seriously? Hello? I don’t have a PhD in math! Who came up with those?) Thank you for being such a steady and understanding person. I’m truly grateful for everything — especially for keeping me going whenever I wasn’t sure I could.

I don't get nervous when I have class with Julien, unlike when I used to go to school. Our sessions are pretty free-flowing, so that I now imagine I can actually sort of speak French, haha (a few months weekly). He is funny, accommodating, and keeps me on track when I start making wild theories about grammar. 😁 He is an interesting person, to me, to boot, so sometimes when I am unable to do my homework I just ask him to talk, about boat rides and local delicacies, and I get to practice asking questions. 😁 Bref, my confidence is up, such that when I have to go back to work after our session I almost start writing emails in French. 😁

He has a great to teach me French. He lets me figure it out and I like it.

Julien is a thoughtful teacher who listened to my explanation and identified needs and how we should best address them. He has a nice style.
