After three lessons with Shunta, I’m beginning to feel more comfortable with speaking, even if what I say is incorrect. I have a hard time asking questions and leading a conversation in Japanese, but Shunta does a wonderful job of coming to the lesson with prepared topics, and always gives prompts to continue speaking. When I say something incorrectly, he does a great job of rephrasing what I was trying to say in a more natural way, without interrupting the flow of the lesson. If you are someone who wants to take the leap into speaking, but are afraid to - Shunta will do a great job in making you feel comfortable and help you get to where you want to be. I’m looking forward to more lessons, and I hope to one day converse in our lesson in a way that I can truly have my voice be heard the way I want it to be!

Shunta has been a great resource for my upcoming trip. He is also a great teacher. He takes the time to ask questions about what I want from our lessons and curates a lesson plan that has helped me reach my goals. I encourage you to book with Shunta because he will teach you what you want to achieve. He takes charge of each lesson by building on what you worked on and sends additional materials to review. During our first lesson, he assessed my Japanese level, so in the lesson I had with him, he worked more on the next phase of his lesson plan. I look forward to more lessons with Shunta and learning about his culture. Shunta is a great teacher- during our lessons we have had a conversation based on a topic decided beforehand. He is patient when I struggle to remember a particular phrase or grammatical structure, and our conversations in Japanese are practical and helpful! This allows the conversation to expand my vocabulary in a natural way. Excited to learn more and to be able to have more complex sentences as we have more lessons together!

At first I was very nervous to start taking lessons, but Shunta sensei eased my worries. He always made sure I understood the material and was happy to go back over anything that I needed help with before moving on. An amazing tutor and fun to talk to. Couldn't recommend him more!
