Hi I'm Emma. I'm originally from England but I now live in Portugal. I have a teaching degree from Oxford University. Teaching is my passion and I have been helping students for over 10 years now. I’m a very creative, friendly and open person. I love travelling and learning new things myself - including languages - which has helped me to understand the difficulties often faced when trying to speak a foreign language. When I lived in the UK I was a High School Teacher of Spanish, which I loved.

I’m a qualified English teacher from the UK with extensive online experience. I studied English and Spanish at King’s College, London and I have a Teaching degree from Oxford University, as well as a CELTA from International House. I was teaching English in Spain, with students both face to face and online. When I moved to Portugal all my classes moved online. I like to motivate my students by helping them to feel comfortable and discussing interesting, relevant topics. I can also prepare students for interviews (university/ job interviews), offer help to students writing their personal statements, proof-read essays and other documents. This ad-hoc work is done on a specialist basis.

My style is very communicative. I like to help my students learn in context and motivate them using engaging topics and authentic materials such as video clips/articles/podcasts, etc. I focus a lot on fluency and grammar during classes and can help you with your pronunciation and intonation. I conduct classes according to your objectives and interests and can focus on general or specific English. You will receive oral/written feedback throughout the class as this is essential to help you learn how to improve and what to focus on. I provide homework and correct it in my own time (not during the class), to save our class time for more useful activities. Please note: I teach student 15+.
