I have been taking Mariclau's class once a week since July 2024, and in every class, she is fully prepared to teach with useful materials. She takes notes on new vocabulary, expressions, and grammar when I have questions or make errors, which not many teachers do on italki. I review those notes after class and improve my Spanish knowledge with each lesson. She is also very patient and listens carefully to me, asking questions so that I can practice responding in my own words. She is still one of the best teachers on italki for me.

I wanted to improve my Spanish fluency but was reluctant to move out of my comfort zone to start conversations with an iTalki community tutor. Well, Claudia became the answer to my prayers that I would connect with just the right person. Now, after almost 500 sessions with her, I have never even considered working with anyone else. Claudia is always "on" and perpetually enthusiastic. She is kind, expressive, and empathetic. She has a great sense of humor. Her corrections are offered discreetly and with compassion. In short, Claudia is an absolute gem!

That was awesome!! In my learning info I asked for corrections when I made a mistake (so I don't just keep doing things wrong without knowing), and she is very good at just slipping the corrections into the flow without them being disruptive. We did a fun activity with a sequences of pictures that told a story. Present and progressive tenses during the story, and then at the end I retold it with the past tense. It was really hard, but it was fun (very cute tiger!!), and I learned a lot! Looking forward to our next session!

I have been studying and practicing Spanish with her from the time when I could barely speak Spanish to my current level (B1). Her patience has helped me keep going without giving up and continue speaking Spanish. I believe consistency is key in language learning, and Mary has always supported me in practicing consistently. Even when I couldn’t dedicate much time to studying due to my busy schedule, she always reminded me of the words and sentences I had learned before. She listens attentively to her students and brings up interesting topics. Interestingly she always remembers things I’ve said in previous lessons. These qualities have made me feel more comfortable speaking Spanish and helped me stay motivated. I met Mary on Italki around 2022. Since then, I’ve been studying with her and continue to improve my Spanish. I feel very lucky to have found such a great teacher like Mary and I hope to continue improving my Spanish skills with her in the future.

Fantastic lesson!! I am very excited to be making progress on pronunciation! It takes a while for things to click (muscle memory for the tongue), but she is very patient with me and good at explaining things!

Mary is incredibly patient and very kind. We have a good time conversing with just a minimal amount of correction as needed.
