I am a qualified Foundation Phase teacher. My last qualification is an Honours Bachelor of Education in Education management. I have 30 years of teaching experience. My core responsibilities are teaching students who have learning challenges in English, and Afrikaans. The progress of every student as an individual is vital because each one is unique and special in their own way. My learners are diverse on every level. My approach as a teacher is a value-based approach that includes differentiation and respect. I teach English as a foreign language to our foreign learners. My lessons are based on the student's level. The lesson would include conversation and inform the student what the lesson is for the day. Students get immediate feedback from me as it is vital for their learning. Feeling at ease is key during the lesson. My strength is patience with my students and I promote never to give up. I follow an integrated planning which includes speaking, pronunciation, writing and vocabulary. The lessons are quite interactive and fun. Connecting with my students is vital because I plan according to their ability. TPR is the most important teaching style, especially for those who are beginners.
