How did I become a German teacher? Languages are my great passion and they run like a red thread through my professional career. I attended the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. The lectures were held in three languages, German, English and Italian. During my studies, I did an internship at the “Istituto Linguistico Bertrand Russell” in Padua. In addition to my administrative work, I also had the opportunity to teach German. Initially it was not easy, because being a native speaker is not enough to be able to teach well.

I am very lucky because I love my profession. But passion alone is not enough to be a good teacher. You also need didactic, methodical and pedagogical skills. For this reason I decided to attend the distance learning course "DaF Methodik und Didaktik" at the Goethe Institute in June 2019. I successfully passed the final exam. I am convinced that teachers need to be constantly trained, too. So they are able to offer their students the best teaching performance.

It is important to deal with your environment, build relationships, communicate appropriately and listen carefully to the students. Apart from the professional competence, the social aspect is also essential. A relaxed learning atmosphere is necessary in order to encourage the students to lead a conversation in the foreign language without any fear. The needs of the students play a central role in my teaching. In my courses I use textbooks that are structured according to the requirements of the European frame of reference. I sometimes supplement them with current topics and songs in order to guarantee an lifelike and learner-oriented lesson.

Julia is a wonderful teacher. She teaches even the most difficult subjects calmly. Her being disciplined creates a sweet pressure, which is an advantage for lazy students like me:) I plan to reach the highest level in German with her.
