Grace Yu (Adult/kid)

Two of my children have learned from Teacher Grace for 4 years now. They love her, and she has sparked in them a passion for Chinese. She is always encouraging and patient, and uses their interests to motivate them. She is always very conscientious, preparing in advance and sending us notes (eg slides and quizzes) after. I had the pleasure of studying with Grace as my online Chinese teacher for 1 hour. I cannot recommend Grace enough for anyone looking to learn Mandarin. From the moment I started my first lesson with Grace, I knew that I had made the right choice. Grace is an exceptional teacher with a passion for teaching Chinese to non-native speakers. Her teaching style is very student-centered, which means that they take the time to get to know their students and tailor their lessons to their individual needs. She is patient, kind, and always willing to go the extra mile to help their students succeed. One thing I particularly appreciated about Grace is her ability to explain complex Chinese grammar concepts in a way that is easy to understand. She is great at breaking down difficult topics into manageable pieces, which helped me to understand the language more effectively. Her lessons were always well-prepared, and she provided me with a lot of useful materials to practice with outside of class.

I have been learning with Grace for nearly 3 years now! I enjoy so much my classes with Grace because it is such a good mix of conversational talk and more formal grammar/vocabulary explanation based on textbooks. Grace is curious, enthusiastic and extremely encouraging. I have definitely improved so much with her!

Grace is wonderful, I love the diversity of the lessons. Sometimes I use Chinese to explain what happened in a TV show - (where she provides cultural context), sometimes we practice characters and playing games. I’m blown away by how well-rounded my classes are. Even if I haven’t had time to study, I feel like I can show up to class and learn because of how well prepared she is. Learning Chinese is hard but the lessons feel effortless and fun. Grace, Thank you for your constant encouragement. You make learning Chinese fun.
