Hi! My name is Laura, and I live in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. As a teacher, I am passionate about studying the language-learning process. However, in terms of my personal interests, I dedicate significant time to researching and writing about world politics and Brazilian history (for fun).
I also enjoy traveling and immersing myself in new experiences from various cultures, both around the world and within Brazil - it’s something that truly fascinates me. Closer to home, photography, cooking, and hiking are among my hobbies, and music holds deep meaning in my life. For me, the process of learning a language is similar to traveling to another country. However, while you usually can only travel on vacation, you can learn a language any day from the comfort of your home. Imagine speaking to a Brazilian, hearing their accent, discovering the country's culture, slang, food, people - everything! As your teacher, I will be your metaphorical guide through Brazil. Our lessons will be built around your main goal, which will be discussed during our trial lesson. With that in mind, it's important you know that my lesson style is completely adaptable to the student's needs, which means that I'm not going to throw grammar at you if that doesn’t fit your learning style. I'll prepare lessons to match HOW YOU LEARN BEST.
Or I will help you with conversation practice, in which the topic can be decided by you, in case you have a specific matter that you need to discuss fluently. Laura is an excellent teacher. Knowledgeable, completely trilingual in Portugues, English and Spanish and able to 'scaffold' the student's knowledge to allow conversations to flow while leaving notes for the student to study after the lesson; that is, the lesson itself is not all that one benefits from Laura's conversations. I have worked with many very good ITalki tutors. Laura is one of the very best. She is a pleasure to work with and advances the student's language knowledge. I highly recommended Laura to any level of language learner.

Laura is an amazing teacher! I had many teachers before her but I didn’t feel like my Portuguese was improving, but since having classes with Laura, I can see a huge difference! I don’t translate from Spanish into Portuguese anymore, I just speak in Portuguese without translating in my mind! I feel much more confident speaking now and it’s all thanks to Laura ☺️ she creates a really safe environment where I have lost my fear of making mistakes ☺️ obrigadaaa 🥰

Laura is an exceptional Portuguese teacher. I've been taking classes with her for two years, and her patience, kindness, friendliness, and deep knowledge have made a tremendous impact on my learning journey. During this class, I was able to discuss my expectations, my reason, for learning Portugese. We discussed her teaching style and why she thinks it will be beneficial to me, which I was happy with. Her style suits my learning style. however, she was open to try another teaching style to support my learning needs at the time. I am excited to start learning with Lorna.

From my trial, Laura seems very warm, approachable and professional. Her lesson plan gave me confidence that I can learn the language in line with my goal. She gave me an introduction to Brazilian culture in the trial as well. I rate it so far!
