I have lived and studied in many different countries, including Belarus, Greece, the US, and Nevis, but I am originally from the land of the midnight sun. I love everything about life here—whether it’s skiing under the northern lights, swimming in glacier lakes, or watching the sunrise at 2 a.m., I’m here for it, especially if it involves a wool sweater or waffles with brown cheese. I have traveled extensively and enjoy spending time in London, Paris, and other parts of the world, but there is nothing like summers at home in Southern Norway. Professionally, I hold degrees in biology (pre-medicine), political science, and biblical counseling, and I am currently working on an MDiv while training to become a medical doctor. I offer fast-track, structured Norwegian courses, from A1 to B2. This approach is especially effective for those planning on working in Norway or studying at the university. The courses are one-on-one, and I use the following textbooks: Sett i gang (A1–A2), Stein på stein (B1), and Her på berget (B2). You can choose between a mini-intensive and a full-intensive program. The mini-intensive program uses the textbook "The Mystery of Nils." The courses are suitable for adult learners of all backgrounds; however, I do not work with children. On italki, I offer conversation lessons. We talk: about your day, your work, life in Norway or Germany, things you're curious about – and along the way you pick up natural phrasing, vocabulary, and cultural context that textbooks don't give you. My approach is conversation-first. Grammar comes up when it comes up – I'll catch patterns in the moment ("did you notice you skipped inversion there?") instead of running a fixed curriculum. If you want grammar drills or a written study plan, I'm probably not the right fit. If you want to actually use the language with someone who explains things as they happen, that's exactly what I do. After each lesson you get a list of the new words and phrases from our conversation – your vocabulary, not a generic list. With a lesson package, you also get a personal practice page with quizzes built around the grammar and expressions that came up in your lessons. I adapt to your level.
