All About "Goodbyes"

It's just saying "goodbye" but nice and short.  It's okay to even use this word in more formal situations.

The way you pronounce this word changes depending on who you're talking to.  If you use it with kids, you can pronounce both words equally.  However, with adults, only stress the second "bye"..."bu-BYE."

This is a little more creative and "flowery."  You can replace "next time" with a day or something like "tomorrow" if you know you'll see the person then.  (e.g. "until tomorrow man").

This is a way to say goodbye that's very pleasant and polite.  It's not too formal, so you can use it with friends and family.

Often times, we use "good night" to say goodbye to a person.  Of course, this is not used during the day time (unless it's slang...an explanation on that coming later).

This is the more informal version of "until next time."  You can say "see you later" when you don't know exactly when you'll see that person next.

This is the short version of "see you later."

Now we're just getting crazy with shortening things, but people really do say only "later" to say goodbye.  It's very casual.  Imagine people throwing up a peace sign while saying this.

If you're tired of saying "see you later," you can just change it up a little bit and say "catch" instead.  It means the same thing.

Again, this is a pleasant way of saying goodbye, but it leans more toward the casual end of the spectrum.  I would avoid using this with your boss at work if you don't really have a good relationship with him or her.

This, perhaps, is the MOST common way to say goodbye on this list.  It wishes the person you're with a good day.  Apparently, it's used a lot in England, but we Americans like it too.

Why is a Spanish word in this list?  Well, if you know anything about the U.S.A., it's that it's home to a lot of Spanish speakers, so tiny sections of their language have been worked into English.
