Hi there! My name is Desiree, I'm 24 years old, and I'm from South Africa. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and I'm on iTalki because I love teaching English to others! I enjoy learning about different people and their cultures. I am an open-minded individual who likes having conversations about different topics. As a tutor, I prioritize conducting lessons that not only aim to educate but also to get my students comfortable and confident in their speech. Becoming fluent is the goal! Learning a new language can be difficult, and I take this into consideration with every lesson. Hence, I focus on being a good listener who is patient, understanding, and kind. I believe in positive encouragement to help the student along their journey, while also ensuring that they become aware of their errors. I put my students' needs at the forefront of my work, regardless of whether or not the student's needs change along the way.My lessons & teaching style
My lesson and teaching style includes guided grammar and conversational lessons. I strongly believe that we learn best when we can be comfortable with making mistakes, which is why I encourage my students to speak freely without reservation. I love to try out new and fun ways of teaching while ensuring that my students learn as much as possible. I conduct most of my lessons through presentation slides that include: quizzes, articles, and engaging imagery. However, I keep an open mind to accommodate the student's learning style if and when necessary.My teaching material
