INTRODUCTION: Used to speaking with English teachers, and feel you can understand them, and that they can understand you well, too? Super! That’s what’s supposed to happen with TEACHERS who have education, training and experience designed for that. However, here’s a unique opportunity to put your English communication skills to the test, and see just how good they are when speaking to an EVERYDAY NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER who’s NOT A TEACHER- nope, just a regular person, living a regular life AND speaking how they regularly would with anyone, just trying to understand and be understood, not focused on mistakes nor making corrections. BUT hey, I’m not gonna miss out on the fun either! You’ll get to talk to me, too- THE TEACHER- who hears your mistakes and is ready to dish out a fresh batch of written and verbal corrections with a side of feedback, from time to time, as needed. Yep. You’ll get to speak to both of us, separately, as we TRADE PLACES with each other to have some interesting convos with YOU! IN THIS CLASS: You will engage in conversation in small groups with both a TEACHER and EVERYDAY NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER, separately, on topics each one chooses for their session with you. THIS CLASS IS FOR: (1) Those 18 years old and older. (2) Those who want practice speaking with a Teacher who gives corrections and feedback. (3) Those who want practice speaking with an Everyday Native English Speaker who is not focused on mistakes but understanding you and being understood, just like in everyday life outside the classroom not giving corrections. MATERIALS NEEDED: Trading Places Convos Note-Taking Sheet (download from lesson page) PREPARATION: Decide the name you prefer the teacher and group members to call you during the session, and enter it as your Display Name on Zoom.
