You will need to read the section of the book we are using today before you attend the class. It will take you 30 to 45 minutes to read. The text is included. In this class, we will engage in a discussion of the book "The Pearl
by John Steinbeck." We will analyse the book, examine challenging vocabulary, and also read a portion of it together if there is time available.

"The Pearl" by John Steinbeck is a novella set in a small fishing village in Baja California, Mexico. It tells the story of Kino, a poor pearl diver, his wife Juana, and their infant son, Coyotito. Their lives are forever changed when Kino discovers a magnificent pearl, which he believes will bring wealth and happiness to his family.
