Word Golf started as a challenge to make an AI say a target word using the shortest prompt possible, but watching real players has revealed something even more interesting: how many different paths language can take to the same idea.

In this episode, I look at real Word Golf attempts, funny AI misunderstandings, and the new Routes system, which rewards players for finding completely different ways to reach the same answer. We’ll explore how words connect through idioms, cultural references, collocations, synonyms, and unexpected associations—and why that kind of creative thinking can be especially useful for English learners.

La cigarra y la hormiga

Durante el verano,
cantaba la cigarra
sin parar ni un momento,
mientras la hormiga
con gran esfuerzo
transportaba el grano
a su escondrijo.

Cuando llegó el invierno,
la cigarra, sin nada que comer,
fue a pedir a la hormiga
un poco de comida.
"Por favor," dijo,
"tengo hambre. Déjame
algún grano para pasar
este invierno tan cruel."

La hormiga preguntó:
"¿Qué hacías tú en el verano
cuando yo trabajaba
sin descanso?"

"Yo cantaba y cantaba
bajo el sol radiante,"
respondió la cigarra.

"¿Cantabas?" replicó la hormiga.
"Pues ahora baila."

Moraleja
