Chén Dānqīng (born 11 August 1953, Shanghai, China) is a Chinese-American artist, writer, and art critic. He is well known for his realist paintings of Tibetans. Chen participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremony with planning and design.

译文translation:
I can't see the personality in the expressions of young people now, what I see is the commonality. I seldom see a young man who gives me a speech of personality that surprises me. Which can makes me think ‘Why did he say that? Why did he have this idea?’ I can barely see it. Languages are the same, the way they speak are the same, and words are the same. I don't think the young people now have stronger personality than our times, really not at all. Why? That’s because each of you has a cell phone, the Internet and the entire media is teaching you how to speak. Then you guys become more and more unifie.
