Level B2 (approx. band 5.5-6.5) · Academic and General Training Part 4 of the Listening test is an academic monologue: one speaker, usually a lecture, and ten questions. Many learners hear every word but still lose their place. The speaker moves to a new point, the learner is still writing the last answer, and three questions go past. In this episode: • What a part 4 lecture looks like • Signposts that start a new section • Note-completion strategy • When you lose your place • Listening lab • Language bridge • Practice • Self-check questions with answers Key points: • Use the introduction as a map, and expect the questions to follow the talk from start to finish. • Signposts are your page-turners. Hear one, move your eyes to the next question. • Predict the type of word, respect the word limit, and spell carefully. • A missed answer costs one mark; panic can cost five. Jump forward with the next signpost. IELTS Complete Course: a self-study podcast from A1 to C2 for Academic and General Training. Listen, pause and answer, then take the 52-question quiz.
