yì zhī hóu zi zài shān pō shang zhòng le yí piàn yù mǐ。 
一只猴子在山坡上 种了一片玉米。
qiū tiān dào le，dì li de yù mǐ shú le，
秋天到了，地里的玉米熟了，
yí gè gè jīn huáng jīn huáng de。 
一个个金黄金黄的。
hóu zi kàn le fēi cháng gāo xìng， 
猴子看了非常高兴，
fēi kuài de pǎo jìn dì li， 
飞快地跑进地里，
rèn zhēn de bāi qǐ yù mǐ lai。
认真地掰起玉米来。
tā bāi yí ge，jiù wǎng yè xià jiā yí ge；  
它掰一个，就往腋下夹一个；
jiā yí ge yòu qù bāi lìng yí ge，  
夹一个又去掰另一个，
bāi lìng yí ge shí，
掰另一个时，
yè xià de yù mǐ biàn diào dào le dì shang。   
腋下的玉米便掉到了地上。
zhè yànq bú duàn de bāi ya、jiā ya，
这样不断地掰呀、夹呀，
bù zhī bù jué de，dì li de yù mǐ dōu bāi guāng le，  
不知不觉地，地里的玉米都掰光了，
kě hóu zi de shǒu li què hái shì zhǐ yǒu yí qe yù mǐ。
可猴子的手里却还是只有一个玉米。
hóu zi jīn bu zhù wèn zì jǐ：  
猴子禁不住问自己：
”wǒ míng míng bāi le hěn duō yù mǐ， 
“我明明掰了很多玉米，
wèi shén me zhǐ shèng xià yí ge ne？“ 
为 什么只剩下一个呢？”
