米津玄師という歌手を知っていますか。「レモン」や「パプリカ」という曲がとても有名になり
ました。すごく人気のある歌手です。彼の新曲のタイトルは「M 八七」です。M 八七がなにか、わ
かりますか。この曲は映画「シンウルトラマン」のテーマ曲です。ウルトラマンは、ゴジラと同じ
ように、日本でとても人気のあるキャラクターです。1966 年からテレビで放送されたので、私も子
供の時にウルトラマンを見ていました。ウルトラマンは宇宙の遠いところからきました。M78 星雲
という星です。でも、最初のときは M78 ではなく、M87 だったのです。だれかが M78 とまちがった
せいで、ウルトラマンは M78 星雲から来たということになりました。
米津さんは、曲をつくった時に、「M78」というタイトルをつけました。しかし、映画の監督が
M87 を提案したので、M87 というタイトルになったそうです。おもしろいですね。この曲、とても
素敵な曲なので、ぜひ聞いてみてください。
