Listen, Understand, Repeat, Read, and Produce This method is designed for complete beginners, Pre-A1, A1 and A2 learners. It helps students move gradually from understanding English to using it confidently. The method follows five stages: 1. Listen: Students listen to a short conversation based on an everyday situation, such as meeting someone, shopping, or ordering food. 2. Understand: Students learn the meaning through comprehensible input. Translation into their first language can be used to make the conversation completely clear. 3. Repeat: Students listen again and repeat useful chunks of language, such as What’s your name?, Nice to meet you, and How are you? This helps them remember complete expressions rather than individual words. 4. Read: Students read the same conversation, often taking the roles of A and B. This connects spoken English with its written form. 5. Produce: Finally, students personalize the conversation and use the language themselves. For example, instead of repeating someone else’s name, they introduce themselves using their own names. Spaced Repetition and i+1 The method uses spaced repetition, so previously learned language regularly returns in later lessons. It also follows i+1: something already known + something new For example, Lesson 1 may teach vegetables. Lesson 2 reviews some of them while introducing fruits. Students therefore review familiar language while gradually learning something new. Each lesson has a practical function, such as introducing yourself, buying something from a shop, or talking about food. The complete learning cycle is: LISTEN → UNDERSTAND → REPEAT → READ → PRODUCE Students move from input and understanding to practice and communication, making it easier for beginners to start producing English naturally.
