These words are often confusing because they both refer to something additional, but they are used differently:
ANOTHER = one more, an additional one (usually singular)
I want another cup of tea.
She bought another dress.
OTHER = different or remaining (can be singular or plural)
I like this book, but I want to read other books.
Some students arrived late, but the other students were on time.
* Tip:
Use another = one more of the same kind.
Use other = different or remaining things/people.
