Going deeper into the problem that a student can have is FUNDAMENTAL to finding the best solution(s)!
For listening there are three main reasons:
1 = VOCABULARY (Written)
2 = SOUNDS OF ENGLISH
3 = SPEED (not 'fast sounds' but PROCESSING of language)

Currently, my main stumbling blocks are
both vocabulary and speed, but I can say that I’m improving a great deal out of listening you tube or watching BBC or Al Jazeera.
I still remember how difficult it was just a year ago. Gosh, devilishly complicated!!
