It’s sunny today. At home, I studied art with my dad. He helped me read a biography of Georges Seurat and then let me draw. Georges Seurat was a French Post-Impressionist [I'm not sure, but I think the "P" should be capitalized because I think "Post-Impressionist is the same as like a proper name] painter, who is noted for the famous painting technique (of) pointillism. Yet, that was my job today, to draw something using pointillism. My dad helped me a little with composition and scale, then I did the painting. It was more time-consuming and soporific ["Soporific" is unusual, but not wrong. If you are trying to use your vocabulary, then by all means say "soporific". If you want people to understand you better, perhaps say, "tiresome", or if you mean it literally made you sleepy, then say that as a phrase.] than I thought. So, my first impression of pointillism is that it's slow and tiresome/tedious, though its effects are exotic, and I guess I’ve understood/I understand a little bit of Impressionism now. Compared with the actual object I was drawing, it’s more about the hues of emotions, just like recalling a view or a scene in my head. These cursory, undetailed images are more like a vibe [I think this use of "vibe" is colloquial. Instead you might say, "a sense of it", or "the feel(ing) of it"].
