[IELTS WRITING TASK 2] - Please rate my work! Whether affluent nations should offer money or other categories to poorer country has remained a contentious debate over the the last decade. I personally believe that financial aid to tackle poverty should not be continued in any circumstances for several reasons. To begin with, financial aid can only be an ephemeral solution because the lack of money often lies in the government's regulations. Instead of this, poorer countries should be supported in terms of elections and voting systems to pick the most suitable governments that are able to tackle their own nations' issues. In doing so, well-off countries can set aside for domestic needs. This strategy is efficiently utilized by America to help other countries in need so it can use its money for the locals. Secondly, many governments are involved in corruption and money laundering activities. Instead of using financial aid for infrastructure and social developments, they use it for the sake of their benefits, leaving the countries with acute poverty. Therefore, it is a better idea to donate other types of supplies such as medical equipments or essential commodities that can go directly to residents. Furthermore, these supplies do immediate wonders for impoverished people since they do not have to go through complicated procedures which exist in financial aid. In fact, horrible policies regarding financial aid have set a lot of countries in debt traps. The typical example of this problem is Pakistan, which receives money from China and cannot pay it back so the government has to let Chinese companies take over a momentous port of the country. In conclusion, financial aid can cause serious problems for both sides so it should no longer be the solution for help. Instead, other measures such as commodities and amenities should be given to avoid those abysmal consequences.
