It comes to my mind two of the most famous types of italian traditional dance forms : tarantella and pizzica. Tarantella dance takes its name from the "tarantula", a kind of spider which, when it bites someone, spreads its poison and makes people "jumping" (from here it comes the typic hopping dance of tarantella). This dance is from the city of Neaples. Dancers usually have castanets in their hands which they make sound following the music rhythm. It is danced by the accompaniment of old traditional music played by traditional instrumets like tambourine. "Pizzica" instead is a kind of tarantella. It's originated from Apulia and it's very similar to tarantella.

Thanks for sharing! I'd heard of the tarantella, but I never knew the origin.
