Hi there!
"Lay out" is a (phrasal) verb and "layout" is a noun - they are different parts of speech. For example:
I always lay out my clothes to dry after I wash them. (Verb)
I designed the layout for the website. (noun)

"Lay out" is a verb. It has two meanings. 1.) to spread an item (or group of items) out 2.) to arrange something.
examples:
I had to lay out all of the pamphlets on the table. (this uses definition 1)
I had to lay out all of the information the poster before I could start gluing it together. (this uses definition 2)
The word "layout" is a noun. A layout is how everything is arranged on a surface. A common thing layout refers to is websites.
examples:
I don't like using (random search engine) the layout is very confusing, so it is difficult to use.
I hope this helped!
