The highlighted texts are unusual in structure and have been confusing for me. I thought "the same" was more of a noun clause and wondered what "a manner" would be in the context. Thanks. It is a touching and compassionate piece of writing. When we talk about finding strength in reading, that's the one we ingrain into our mind and refresh ourselves with these memories, especially in a real-life crisis. https://lettersofnote.com/2012/03/20/sorrow-passes-and-we-remain/

I think "same" refers to all the stuff in the sentence(s) before. You didn't excerpt it all, so I can't help any further. "We after a manner see" I believe just means "Unlike sorrow, which is blind, we are able to see, after a period of time". But poetry or poetic writing is not my strength, so take this with a grain of salt. This sort of writing is more about style than content, it seems to me. Hope that helps.
